Se recomienda cursar esta asignatura con un nivel previo intermedio de lengua general (Bachillerato, 1º curso del 2º ciclo de la EOI, B1 del European Portfolio).

Al finalizar el programa formativo, el estudiante debe ser capaz de:
1.Conocer el vocabulario técnico y académico de su especialidad; y usar, tanto oralmente como por escrito, las funciones del lenguaje asociadas al contexto técnico (profesional y académico) de su especialidad.
2.Trabajar tanto en grupo como de forma autónoma, auxiliado por herramientas de autoaprendizaje.
3.Incorporar estrategias propias (innovación, creatividad) a sus propias aportaciones, personales y de grupo, en las actividades propuestas por la asignatura.
4.Realizar un uso correcto de las nuevas tecnologías al aprendizaje de la lengua con fines específicos.
En esta asignatura se trabajará la lengua inglesa en su vertiente de inglés técnico.

Practice sessions
Students will practise oral receptive and productive skills dealing with specific subject-domain topics through the production of dialogues/conversations in pairs or groups and integrating the specific vocabulary and working on intelligible pronunciation.

Promoting the continuous improvement of working and study conditions of the entire university community is one the basic principles and goals of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena. The UPCT Service of Occupational Hazards (Servicio de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales de la UPCT) has published a "Risk Prevention Manual for new students" (Manual de acogida al estudiante en materia de prevención de riesgos), which may be downloaded from the e-learning platform ("Aula Virtual"), with instructions and recommendations on how to act properly, from the point of view of prevention (safety, ergonomics, etc.), when developing any type of activity at the University. You will also find recommendations on how to proceed in an emergency or if an incident occurs. Particularly when carrying out training practices in laboratories, workshops or field work, you must follow all your teacher's instructions, because he/she is the person responsible for your safety and health during practice performance. Feel free to ask any questions you may have and do not put your safety or that of your classmates at risk.

Interaction activities in smaller groups about topics related to telecommunications. Actividades de interacción basadas en materiales reales sobre los fundamentos de las telecomunicaciones, a fin de aumentar el grado de autonomía en la destreza de la expresión oral de los estudiante y con el profesor como moderador o facilitador de la actividad. Interview
The oral productive skill will be assessed in parallel with the summative evaluation by means of two oral tests:
-An oral presentation on a specific topic about telecommunications (15%)
-Oral production and interaction about the topics dealt with in the practical sessions (20%)
Both tests will take into account aspects such as pronunciation, expression, interaction, content suitability. The use of visual support and body language will be also considered in the oral presentation.
CG9 competence and learning outcomes from 1 to 4 are assessed.

Practical laboratory assignment
Following the procedure developed in practice sessions, students will take two tests assessing oral production and interaction dealing with the specific topics covered in class; likewise, students will take a pronunciation test about keywords in the telecommunication field (20%).
Tests will take into account aspects such as pronunciation, expression, interaction, content suitability.
CG9 competence and learning outcomes from 1 to 4 are assessed.
