Promoting the continuous improvement of working and study conditions of the entire university community is one the basic principles and goals of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena. Such commitment to prevention and the responsibilities arising from it concern all realms of the university: governing bodies, management team, teaching and research staff, administrative and service staff and students. The UPCT Service of Occupational Hazards (Servicio de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales de la UPCT) has published a "Risk Prevention Manual for new students" (Manual de acogida al estudiante en materia de prevención de riesgos), which may be downloaded from the e-learning platform ("Aula Virtual"), with instructions and recommendations on how to act properly, from the point of view of prevention (safety, ergonomics, etc.), when developing any type of activity at the University. You will also find recommendations on how to proceed in an emergency or if an incident occurs. Particularly when carrying out training practices in laboratories, workshops or field work, you must follow all your teacher's instructions, because he/she is the person responsible for your safety and health during practice performance. Feel free to ask any questions you may have and do not put your safety or that of your classmates at risk.

2 Partial exams will be performed in available periods (first and second period for partial exams) in the continuous evaluation system.
The weighting of the first partial equals to 25% and for the second partial is 50%. Total weight of these exams = 75%.
Student must obtain a minimum grade of 3.5 points in order to compensate each one of them with other exams or activities.

The individual work for those who have not done it within the time limit during the course or have failed it, will be replaced by a theoretical question in the final exam. The theory question will be based on the individual presentations made by other students during the course.
Those students with grades between 3.5 and 4.9 will have to decide whether to maintain that grade or take an exam with the theory question.
There is no minimum score for this activity.

Written final exams will be available for those students who did not achieve the minimum grade of 3.5 in the continuous assessment system throughout the course and also for those who want to improve their final mark even if the grade in some of the partial exams were higher than 3.5. The weight for each one of these exams will be similar than in the continuous assessment system.
